One year of PAW Patrol

So it was a year ago, in early October (I want to say October 1, 2015) that I discovered PAW Patrol, all thanks to the cover of a coloring book I saw at Wegman's, with a picture of Chase in his super spy gear, and Marshall in his EMT gear.  (I was actually impressed with the detail they put into Chase's dog boots, as they really reminded me of real dog boots, which to me, showed that the animators seemed to really care about detail, which is not something you see too often in animated series these days.  I'm always impressed in the show by things such as the detail of the texture of the fabric in the pup's vests, and how realistic they make ice in the snowy-themed episodes, etc.  The CGI is very impressive).  Anyway, between this, and seei…

PAW Patrol and The Raccoons - my 2 favorite Canadian cartoons

Having recently bought an all region DVD player, I've finally been able to get the DVDs of one of my favorite childhood cartoons, "The Raccoons", as so far it's only available in region 2 format, despite the fact that it was a Canadian cartoon.  However, I thought about it, and there are actually several similarities between The Raccoons and PAW Patrol, aside from both cartoons being made in Canada,  Consider these:

Both series had an episode where the main cast form a rock band.

Both series had an episode where the main characters participate in a vehicle race.

Both series had several sports themed episodes.

One of Ralph Raccoon's relatives is French (I can't remember now if it was George or Nicole Raccoon), just like Captain Turbot's cousin,…

Too old for PAW Patrol? Never!

Okay, while I'm not at liberty to admit my age here, I will openly admit, I'm well beyond the intended age demographic of PAW Patrol.  But I'm young at heart, and I think that's what matters.  I once read what I thought was a very wise quote at deviantART some years back - "If you think watching cartoons is immature, then consider this - adults make 'em!"  But there's another element to consider.  A friend of mine, who's a local musician (a guitarist), is a huge fan of Elmo from Sesame Street - he can often be seen wearing an Elmo t-shirt, and he has various Elmo-themed merchandise.  He once told me that Elmo is his "drugs" - that being in the music industry is very high pressure, with a lot of rejection and difficult things to deal with f…

Paw Patrol on DVD

I'm very annoyed with Nickelodeon for the lack of releases of Paw Patrol on DVD (or even Bluray), especially considering it would be such a big selling item!  Not everyone is able to stream videos, and there are still a lot of people (myself included) who prefer to own shows on DVD.  So far, there have only been 4 official Paw Patrol DVD releases - "Paw Patrol", featuring 10 half episodes from season 1, "Winter Rescues", featuring "Pups Save Christmas" and 6 half episodes from season 1, "Marshall & Chase On the Case", featuring 8 half episodes from season 1, and most recently, "Meet Everest", which features "The New Pup" plus 6 half episodes from seasons 1 and 2.  (So they haven't even finished releasing all the season 1 episodes on DVD, a…
