- This is the second appearance of Volcano Island since its debut in "Air Pups".
- The hurricane is never fully shown. However, it is instead shown as a mild storm. During the Air Patroller sequence, it appears as a tornado.
- Skye's "Pop goes the puppy" line is a reference to the nursery rhyme "Pop goes the weasel".
- It was referenced by Marshall later in "Pups Save an Ostrich".
- When Chase says "My, Cap'n Turbot, what big teeth you have", a reference is made to the story of Little Red Riding Hood.
- It is unknown whether or not "Grandmama Turbot" refers to Tilly Turbot.
- The grandfather of Cap'n Turbot and Francois Turbot is mentioned.
- Both this and its sister episode has a few similarities:
- They are air rescues that feature the Air Patroller.
- Both episodes are written by Charles Johnston.
- They have Skye and Rocky as first responders with Skye as the first pup to be deployed, while Rocky is the second.
- They have a different Air Patrol theme whenever someone gets deployed. The music came from "Air Pups" when Ryder saved Mandy on Volcano Island.
- It is revealed that Ryder's flying gear has a visor.
- According to US airing order, this is the first episode where Jaxon Mercey voices Ryder.
- This is the second time that the background singers sing "Ryder!", the first being the aforementioned "Air Pups".
- This did not occur in the UK and Ireland, as a few lines were either cut, replaced or edited with a British word replacing the American word.
Errors
- Continuity error: Francois is scared of a crocodile, but in "Pups Save the Critters", he is shown to own one, Jenny.
